Our cycling routes around Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer

La digue à la mer – Gacholle lighthouse (26 km)
Starting from the east of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, take the path along the beaches past the thalassotherapy center.
It continues along the famous sea wall, between the Mediterranean and the marshes, on the edge of the Réserve Nationale de Camargue.
After around 13 km, you’ll reach the Gacholle lighthouse.
The return journey takes the same route.
⚠️ No water points or shops along the way: bring your own provisions.
Le Bac du Sauvage (30 km)
From the west of the village, take the D38 towards Aigues-Mortes.
After 6 km, the Bac du Sauvage crosses the Petit Rhône. You’ll enjoy a remarkable panorama of the river.
Continue on the unique road through the Camargue countryside, then reach Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer via Astouin, Cabanes de Cambon and the Ornithological Park.
Return via the Cacharel road, skirting the ponds.
Méjanes estate (36 km)
To the east of the village, follow the Route de Cacharel (D38A).
After about 4 km, a dirt track marked “Le Méjanes” leads you for 14 km to the Domaine Paul Ricard de Méjanes, on the edge of the Vaccarès National Reserve.
You’ll be in the heart of unspoilt countryside, ideal for observing the flora and fauna of the Camargue.
Return by the same route.
Tour of the Etang de Vaccarès (70 km)
From the east of the village, follow the seawall towards the Gacholle lighthouse.
Continue to the Comtesse parking lot, then cross the Salins de Badon.
A stopover is possible at La Capelière, an information center on Camargue nature.
Continue towards Villeneuve and Méjanes before returning to Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
La Petite Camargue (20 km)
Heading towards Aigues-Mortes, take the D38, then cross the Petit Rhône on the Bac du Sauvage (free, every 30 minutes).
After the Pont de Sylvéréal, turn off towards Astouin and Cabanes de Cambon before reaching the village.
This circuit, accessible to all, allows you to admire the traditional gardian huts and the vast landscapes typical of the Camargue.
